Beef Stew


2 lbs. lean beef
2 cups tomato sauce
2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. thyme
1/2 bay leaf
2 cups water
1/8 tsp. pepper

2 tblsp. oil
flour
6 onions
6 carrots
6 potatos

  • cut beef into cubes, roll in flour and brown in oil in bottom of stew pot
  • add sauce, salt, thyme, bay leaf, pepper, and water
  • cook over LOW flame until meat is soft (about 1 1/2 hours)
  • add onions, carrots, potatoes
  • cook about 30-40 minutes longer, until tender
  • add handful of frozen peas
